How The Black Latino Unity Project Started? In early October 2008, The immigrant workers union joined a historic planning meeting in Los Angeles, the Black Latino Summit that highlighted successful cross-cultural initiatives to deepen and strengthen the ties that bind our communities. After the National Submit, the Immigrants & Workers Union decided to implement a project that will help to bring our Communities together; for IWU the concept of unity is simple: we all want to make sure our children have good schools, our neighborhoods are affordable and healthy, and our families are economically secure.
